Everyone knows that the laser cutting machine needs to add antifreeze in winter to ensure the internal water circulation. Now let's give you a brief understanding of the antifreeze

1: Why does the laser cutting machine add antifreeze instead of water in winter

92%~98% of antifreeze is ethylene glycol (ethylene glycol and ethanol are two completely different ingredients). At present, more than 95% of antifreeze based on ethylene glycol is used at home and abroad. Compared with tap water, ethylene glycol has the most significant feature of antifreeze, and water is not antifreeze. Secondly, ethylene glycol has high boiling point, low volatility, moderate viscosity, small change with temperature and good thermal stability. Therefore, ethylene glycol antifreeze is an ideal coolant.

2: Can antifreeze be mixed with water?

Antifreeze can be used only after dilution. Deionized water (not mineral water) can be added for dilution. The freezing point corresponding to different concentrations is also different. In the preparation process, the local temperature shall be taken into consideration to meet the requirements of antifreeze and economy

【1】 When the content of ethylene glycol is 60%, the freezing point can be reduced to - 48.3 ℃. When this limit is exceeded, the freezing point will rise instead;

【2】 The antifreeze liquid is composed of 40% ethylene glycol and 60% soft water, and the antifreeze temperature is - 25 ℃;

【2】 When ethylene glycol and water account for 50% of the antifreeze, the antifreeze temperature is - 35 ℃.

3: Can I use automobile antifreeze?

Because the two antifreeze functions target different liquids, the antifreeze for laser cutting machines and automobiles is also different. The automobile antifreeze is directly prepared, and its components are more complicated than the cutting machine antifreeze. The antifreeze required by the laser cutting machine needs deionized water to be prepared according to the local temperature. The direct use of automobile antifreeze will cause certain damage to the equipment.

Tip: The darker the color of antifreeze, it does not mean the stronger the antifreeze ability. No matter what color the product is, it is necessary to maintain a certain degree of transparency, and do not choose turbid products with impurities.
