Fiber laser cutting machine uses laser instead of traditional mechanical knife. It has the characteristics of high precision, fast cutting speed, not limited to cutting patterns, automatic typesetting, material saving, smooth cutting and low processing cost. It will gradually improve or replace the traditional metal cutting equipment.
Metal laser cutting machine can process materials. Although almost all metal materials have high reflectivity to infrared energy at room temperature, CO2 lasers that emit 10.6um beams in the far infrared band are still successfully used in laser cutting of many metal practices.
Six kinds of metal materials that can be cut by optical fiber laser cutting machine
carbon steel
Modern laser cutting systems can cut carbon steel plates up to a maximum thickness of 20 mm. The cutting seam of carbon steel can be controlled within a satisfactory width by using an oxidation melting cutting mechanism, and the cutting seam for thin plates can be narrowed to about 0.1mm.
stainless steel
Laser cutting is an effective processing tool in the manufacturing industry using stainless steel sheet as the main product. By strictly controlling the heat input in the laser cutting process, the heat affected zone of the dressing can be limited to be smaller, thus effectively maintaining the good corrosion resistance of such materials.
Alloy steel
Most alloy structural steel and alloy tool steel can be used to obtain good trimming quality through laser cutting machine. Even for some high-strength materials, as long as the process parameters are properly controlled, the cutting surface without sticking slag can be obtained. However, for high speed tool steel and hot work die steel containing tungsten, corrosion and slag will occur during laser cutting.
What materials can optical fiber laser cutting machine cut?
aluminium alloy
Aluminum cutting is a melting cutting mechanism, and the auxiliary gas used is mainly used to blow molten products away from the cutting area, which can generally obtain better cutting surface quality. For some aluminum alloys, care should be taken to prevent microcracks between the slit surfaces.
copper alloy
Due to the high reflectivity of pure copper (red copper), it is basically impossible to cut with CO2 laser beam. Brass (copper alloy) should use higher laser power, and the auxiliary gas should use air or oxygen, which can cut very thin plates.
titanium alloy
Pure titanium can well couple the heat energy generated by focused laser beam conversion. When oxygen is used as the auxiliary gas, the chemical reaction is violent and the cutting speed is faster, but the oxide layer is easy to form on the cutting edge, which may lead to excessive combustion if you are not careful. For safety, it is better to use air as auxiliary gas to ensure cutting quality. The laser cutting quality of titanium alloys commonly used in the aviation industry is good. Although there will be some sticky residue at the bottom of the slit, it is easy to remove.
In general, it is recommended to use a laser cutting machine to cut metal materials, such as carbon steel plates within 12mm and stainless steel plates within 10mm. Laser cutting machine processing without deformation: no tool wear, good material adaptability: no matter the parts are simple or complex, they can be cut with laser precision and rapid prototyping at one time: narrow slit, good cutting quality, and high degree of automation. Simple operation, low labor intensity, no pollution: it can realize automatic cutting and nesting, improve material utilization, low production cost, and good economic benefits. When selecting laser equipment, we should not only consider the characteristics of our own product materials, but also consider the performance of the laser equipment.
